Maaschanz in Frankfurt

Moules Frites are (usually!) delicious and authentic! Only one star subtracted as the quality is occasionally a little uneven. Sitting on the terrace in the summer is also great. One hardly notices the streets nearby. Some other reviewers have commented on the owner; I would say he's best described as "authentic": usually super friendly, sometimes a bit overworked and grumpy, but always very human -- for me this is perfect, but could rub some folks the wrong way if it's not their expectation.

The boss is unfortunately cheeky and a lousy host. The food is dead. SORRY, we all had diarrhea after eating.

Was here for the first time today, although we also live on the Main. Mussels and Riesling first class. Service top. Boss in a good mood ... We'll be back. It's not far.

Food was ok. It's a bit on the expensive side. You are a bit tucked away from the tourists but you still have a view of the cathedral which is great.

Authentic french food in Frankfurt, perfect quality. Not a posh 'nouvelle cuisine', but a natural cuisine with full flavors. Simply excellent - since many, many years. Same style is the chef, no wonder some people don't come along with him, blockheads / Schickimicki will have a hard time. That's just fair.

I wanted to visit the Maaschanz, so I made an appointment with some friends there. We were able to spend a cozy evening there. The much-cited patron was very sympathetic to us. Unfortunately, none of us really enjoyed the food.

Unfortunately, you cannot assign 0 stars, because even 1 star is clearly too much here. The way the owner treats guests and staff is beyond excuse. Extremely aggressive behavior towards guests and the waitresses. Working there must be an absolute ordeal. Conclusion: terrible person - never set foot in this shop again !!

We were five on a Monday evening guest at Bruno. We had a 5-course menu with suitably recommended wines. Quail fried in cassis Fish dumplings in Nantua sauce Red wine sorbet Entrecote with French fries and bearnaise sauce Crepe Salidoux Everything was excellent and delicious, the wines were excellent. Very attentive, courteous and friendly service. Price-performance is unbeatable for Frankfurt conditions. We are very happy to come back.

The owner doesn't like Italian. Even if you're not Italian. Kitchen chef is surely not from France. I felt offended by the owner. Looking at reviews here, it's 21 century, quality of service cannot depend on somebody's mood. I could believe what somebody wrote, owner could be drunk. The only nice thing was the waitress. Professional and smiling, rest is disaster. Zero stars.

Great food and great service

The taste and quantity, and the taste of French home cooking was very delicious and great. The owner's father was very interesting and humorous. But I think there are people who do not match those who match this person. If you know a little French or a joke, this is a place where you can have a good and delicious meal. Sorry for not knowing how to eat artichokes, thank you for teaching me (^^)! I want to come again.

Service was great both from the owner and server. Food was ok. The portions are generous. I did not expect to get so much food.

Serving the smallest mussels I have ever seen, in 2 mjnutes after ordering. Cold. Some fries with it and very dry bread. The Riesling was very good. Staff is friendly.

A real insider tip on near the Ironbridge. French cuisine of the highest quality, years of experience at a very high level at fair prices. Authentic and loving overall concept. Here you have to go, here you like to come back.

Come to this restaurant for more than 15 years. Is one of my most-appreciated restaurants in Frankfurt. Food is always delicious and of excellent quality; It is not easy to maintain this quality at this level over the years. Class are the 3 course menus, which you can put together to your heart's content. The monthly changing food is a great idea. Wine selection is good and the prices are fair.

Worst experience in my life. The owner was drunk and insulting his guests. After he charged us 25 euro to much he started shouting and being aggressive when we asked for receipt. After my 13 year old brother said he will call the police he wanted to physically attack him. Highly advise not to go to this place with family or children.

Good food inspired on French cuisine but the expresso at 3euros is a bit over rated. Good place for summer lunch on the terrasse.

Everytime more than full. Feeling good in the Maaschanz.

The food is ok. A bit expensive for the quality but still ok. If you are hungry and intend to take 3 courses, my advice is that you go for the menu of the month (3 our 5 courses). However, the owner was not really pleasant and I would say almost disrespectful.

Great food

Food was amazing! Service was somewhat slow.

We had a very pleasant meal here tonight. Our host was very pleasant and interested in giving us a great evening. It was a bit quiet so I think we got extra attention - a benefit of travelling in the shoulder season. If you are tired the tourist food, cross the river and enjoy a bit of Provence in Germany.

The owner charged €100 on my credit card whereas the bill was 92.60. The meal was mediocre at best. The service was also not very good, everything took really long, glasses were left empty etc. The bread is obviously bought in cheap, why? The mear was burned and the chips were overcooked. The dessert, tarte tatin had a soggy bottom, why oh why serve something like that? Broken glass was left under the table and you can see cobwebs everywhere. If the front of house gets so little attention you wonder how it looks behind the scenes, kitchen.

Impolite staff

Excellent french Bistro with a tastefully created menu and a great selection of wines. The garden has a unique view of the Frankfurt skyline and the sunset. Foie gras as well as goat's cheese salad are delicious, just like the Sauvignon Blanc wine.

Horrible attention. Were asked to leave by the waiter for using the toilette even though we were customers.

Maaschanz offers excellent French food in a casual atmosphere. The dishes change occasionally so don't expect to always find the same dishes on the menu. A favorite of mine are the Moules Frites. During the summer you can also order that and other smaller dishes in the bistro part while sitting out in the sunshine. I actually don't understand the negative reviews about the service and quality of food. The restaurant's crew is actually a lot of fun. And during all the years of eating here, I have never ever had bad quality food. The food has always been excellent.
